On 7th October 2017, Torfaen MP Nick Thomas-Symonds called in on his constituent Joseph Hutton of North Road, Snatchwood, to pass on his best wishes on the occasion of his hundredth birthday.

Mr Thomas-Symonds was shown Mr Hutton’s birthday card from the Queen (pictured, with Mr Hutton, and that birthday card from the Queen) and spoke with him and his wife Brenda about his life, including his service in the Royal Air Force.

Mr Thomas-Symonds said:

“A hundredth birthday is an incredible milestone. Few people get the chance to join the centurion club, and I was delighted to be able to call in to see Joe and pass on my best wishes in person. Together with his wife Brenda, Joe has had a quite remarkable life and I’m so pleased he has been able to celebrate this with good wishes from so many people today.”
