Nick Thomas-Symonds, MP for Torfaen, visited his local William Hill shop in support of The Bobby Moore Fund’s Football Shirt Friday initiative.

William Hill, who are proudly sponsoring Football Shirt Friday for the second year running, provided a £50 charity bet which Nick placed on Atletico Madrid to win the Champions League at odds of 4/1.

All winnings from the bet will be donated to the Bobby Moore Fund, going towards clinical research and trials around bowel cancer. William Hill will honour the stake and make a £50 contribution to the charity if the bet is unsuccessful.

Football Shirt Friday is taking place today, and will see William Hill colleagues and customers up and down the country donate £2 to wear their favourite football shirt for the day. The company are also using their UK-wide network of offices and shops to educate customers and colleagues on the risks of bowel cancer, which kills 44 people every day in the UK.

Nick Thomas-Symonds said:

“It was a pleasure to visit the William Hill shop in Cwmbran wearing the top of my home-town football team Blaenavon Blues. I was grateful to the staff for their welcome and I am pleased to support the Bobby Moore Fund in the fight against bowel cancer, a disease that affects so many families in Torfaen and across the country.”
