Member of Parliament for Torfaen, and Shadow Home Secretary, the Rt Hon. Nick Thomas-Symonds MP has paid tribute to the fantastic work of the Royal British Legion (RBL) on its 100th birthday which falls on Saturday 15th May.

The celebration of the RBL’s 100th Anniversary will include a special programme of activity, finishing with a commemorative service at Westminster Abbey and a Centenary Poppy Appeal. Throughout the year the RBL will pay tribute to those who have contributed to its proud history and celebrate with the communities across the UK and around the world.

Today, the RBL continues to stand with the Armed Forces community, providing lifelong care and support to all serving and ex-serving personnel and their families. This ranges from expert advice and guidance, to recovery and rehabilitation, through to transitioning to civilian life.

Commenting on the anniversary, the Torfaen MP said: The Royal British Legion provides a huge amount of invaluable support for the Armed Forces community in Torfaen and across the country, and every year I have the honour and privilege of launching the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal here in Torfaen.

I want to take this opportunity to thank them for all the tremendous work they do and wish them a very happy 100th anniversary.’
