Local MP Nick Thomas-Symonds recently visited a supported living scheme in Torfaen to learn more about the vital support being provided to the eight people living there by Voyage Care, one of the UK’s leading adult social care specialists supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries, and complex needs. As new a government commission is being launched to review care in the UK, raising awareness of the valuable impact care has on individual lives has never been more important.
Mr. Thomas-Symonds spent time speaking with both individuals supported by Voyage Care and their dedicated and highly skilled local team, learning how the support provided empowers people to lead more independent and fulfilling lives in their local community. When speaking to one person supported by Voyage Care, they discussed how the vital support they receive enables them to live life as they wish in their own accessible home.
Nick and the Voyage Care team also discussed the opportunity of the upcoming Casey Commission to lead to much-needed reform for the adult social care sector, ensuring all disabled adults can have as positive experience as those supported by Voyage Care in Torfaen. Voyage Care is dedicated to overcoming the challenges faced by the care sector, which include funding and workforce pressures, with innovative solutions and unwavering compassion, so that every individual receives the support they deserve to live their life fully.
Nick Thomas-Symonds MP said: “It was a privilege to meet Voyage Care at this local community hub and hear more from both the people they support and the team working within our community.
