Nick Thomas-Symonds is encouraging people in Torfaen to vote for Pontypool Park as the UK’s Favourite Park in a nationwide public vote organised by green space charity, Fields in Trust.

Our local parks have acted as a sanctuary for so many of us over the past few years and the UK’s Favourite Parks award celebrates the contributions these spaces deliver for our neighbourhoods and communities.

Pontypool Park includes several historical features including Italian Gardens, Ice Houses, the Shell Grotto, the Folly Tower, and is home to the world-famous Pontypool RFC.

Pontypool Park is one of 364 parks and green spaces in the running to be awarded UK’s Favourite Park 2022. Voting is now open at https://www.fieldsintrust.org/favourite-parks/ and will close at noon on Thursday 18th August 2022.

The parks with the most votes in each of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland will be named National Favourites and the overall winner the UK’s Favourite Park 2022.

Calling on people in Torfaen to vote for Pontypool Park, Nick Thomas-Symonds said: “We are incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic Park on our doorstep which is etched in Torfaen’s rich heritage.

Whether it is walking up to the Folly Tower, taking the children to play, or heading down to watch the mighty Pooler on a Saturday afternoon, we all have our own reasons to love Pontypool Park.

We have seen over the past difficult few years just how important our open spaces are to people’s physical and mental wellbeing.

I encourage people up and down Torfaen to cast their vote for our wonderful Pontypool Park as the UK’s Favourite Park.”
